Universal City Walk with The Croods

March 19, 2013 in Family, Southeast, Theme Parks

Last week we were invited to a screening of The Croods at AMC Universal Cineplex.  I had no idea what we were in for!  Our paperwork said to arrive thirty minutes early… so we did.  However, what we didn’t realize is that the theater was in Universal’s City Walk!  (I really should have paid closer attention to the name…)

The Croods

At 9:30 a.m. we arrived to the parking garage.  I frantically put on my Moby wrap and issued demands like a drill Sergent. “Get out of the car! Quickly, quickly, quickly! Let’s go! Move it! Move it!”

People probably thought “Boy, she is really ready to get those kids into Universal!”

As we made our way out of the parking garage, I flipped out!  Or, shall I say… went into complete meltdown.  Riding on the little escalader, I mumbled to my husband…. as quietly as I could in order for the people around me not to think I was bonkers.. “This isn’t the right way?  This says we are going to the Theme Parks!  This is the wrong way!  We are going to miss the movie!  We came all this way and now we are going to miss it!  I can’t believe this!  Nope, this is the wrong way…. why does it say Spiderman and Cat in the Hat?  I am really confused.  This is the wrong way…. Oh my, oh my goodness!”

As they checked our bags, I appeared even more confused.  It is 9:57 am at this point and I am on the verge of tears.  I woke up way too early to get here on time and I’m still late!  How did this happen?

At the end of the next riding walkway we were there!  Yay!… maybe.

Screening of The Croods

We entered the front door and I frantically explained why we were there to the first person I saw. She directed us up the stairs and to the check-in desk.

Once we made it to the check-in desk the people there said to hurry because it had already started!

We all piled up into the theater, the movie had just started and I could finally breathe again!  Whew… relief!

A few minutes in they stopped the movie because the 3D wasn’t working properly….. and restarted it!   (My little girl thought they were being nice and restarted it just for us!  haha – cute!)

The Croods Movie

*Don’t worry, I won’t give you any spoilers!

The movie was fantastic!  My husband said it was the best family movie he had seen in years!  It was funny all-the-way through, heartwarming in parts – I almost cried once or twice.  I think I held out pretty good though.  My kids can’t wait to see it again.

When we got home my son was looking through the new releases on Netflix and he found a Behind the Scenes feature to watch. I think my kids have watched that a dozen times since we have been home.  They love watching the clip of Douglas (crocopup) being told to “roll over” by Thunk… he rolls off the mountain!  It was quite funny.

Why we Love it

Our whole family packed together on a long slow trip across country…. we’ll become closer as a family! ~ Grug (Dad)

Boy does that sound familiar….

This movie was a MUST SEE for traveling families.  You will love it more-so than the average family viewer.

THE CROODS

This movie couldn’t have come to us at a more perfect time.  We are gearing up for our adventure in a few DAYS and it can be a little overwhelming.  I have had a variety of mixed emotions about our trip that only grows the closer we get.  This movie really reminded me that the adventure is going to be scary, and I can stay in my cave and worry or I can go out and live.  Staying in this cave isn’t living, it’s just not dying.

I hope you enjoy the movie and to help you out I have teamed up with Parent Palace to offer you a chance to win a $25 Visa Gift Card, The Croods coloring book, and a plush Belt!  Enter today using the Rafflecopter form below.  Good luck to you, I hope one of my fans wins!

City Walk

After the movie was over we visited City Walk.  It mostly consisted of restaurants and a few shops.  It is really geared more towards adults than children.  We strolled around for about an hour.  My toddler loved watching a boat taking passengers from on place to the next.  My oldest loved the Hard Rock…
