Creating a Travel Planning Headquarters ~ Step 1
January 7, 2013 in Preparation
I have been nervously excited out our trip for the past few months. Actually, my response has been complete fear! If someone asked me about our plans, I responded with a more nervous, scared, and terrified look upon my face. I didn’t even want to plan the trip at all because I was too nervous.
Step 1: Tack a large map of the U.S. on your wall near your dining room table
Since our family has a great supply of large maps we use for homeschooling, I decided to put one up on the wall near our dining room table. Ever since I put it up I have been in complete excitement – forgoing the fear! If I had known putting up a large map on my wall was going to provide me with that, I would have tacked it up there months ago!
I now find myself working at the dining room table more often. I look up at it and feel like… “That is our new home! All of that!” ~ Bliss
Alternative Option:
If you want to tack pins to possible locations, or use a tack & string method, I would suggest your map be placed upon a bulletin board. This way all of your hard work will not need to be removed before you leave. Instead, you will be able to pull your board off the wall and load it into your RV.

What a wonderful idea, and a great way to get motivated about a trip!

Where are you guys going? Last year we drove from OR to CO, stayed for 8 months and then moved back from CO to WA…lots of driving, and Wyoming is bare and boring. Hope it all goes well and as planned.

We are going everywhere! Lord willing, we will be on the road full-time for two years+. First route: I want to spend the summer at Glacier National Park, so we will be starting by traveling for 2-3 months from FL to Montana.
That’s a great idea to have it visible so you can work on it as you wish, in a more organized manner. And using the tacks would be a great idea so I think I would definitely go with the bulletin board idea. Great share. Good luck with the planning.
